Torlundy House is a family run Guest House near Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland. We welcome you to our home nestling amongst Britain's highest mountains (a short distance away from Ben Nevis) and most spectacular scenery. Be prepared to spend more than a day here as there is so much to do and see no matter what weather we are having, and you will not tire of the people, culture or scenery.

Michael and Maxean Dunham owned Mayfield Bed & Breakfast until the end of October 2011. Having provided guests with quality B&B for 8 years at Mayfield they decided to look for a larger house to accommodate more guests. Guests at Mayfield came to expect quality, comfortable rooms, a warm welcome, a wonderful breakfast menu and all the little touches they told us were not found at other places they stayed. At Torlundy House that tradition will continue.

“How lucky we were to find that Torlundy House (previously known as Birchfield) was available to purchase. It is only a few yards away from Mayfield so we could stay in an area we love and offer more rooms for B&B. Perfect. Between November 2011 and March 2012 Torlundy House will undergo substantial improvement and refurbishment to modernise guest facilities and bring it up to the standard guests were used to at Mayfield. We want to do more of the same, as requested by our guests.”

Mayfield Bed & Breakfast, our previous home, is no longer providing B&B accommodation. Please respect the new owner’s privacy, just drive another 70 metres down the road to Torlundy House.

Please have a look at our "Local Area" page to get a taste of what you can expect in the Fort William and the wider Lochaber area. Some call the Western Highlands the last wilderness in Europe.

Many of our guests say that they wished they had stayed more than a couple of nights at our B&B because they missed so many sights. Others return year after year and still find something new each visit.

We are proud to be distinctly different to hotels, many of our guests prefer the more personal and relaxed atmosphere and genuine hospitality in a "home from home" without the formality and impersonal atmosphere many hotels have and you can expect some touches rarely found in hotels that we hope make you feel there is little else we could do for you. Perhaps the only thing you might miss is room service, but then with all there is to do why would you be in your room except to get a good nights sleep?
